The Weekly | 12.01.23
Helloooooo! It’s December, winter is coming, and I’m so excited to for another holiday season in New York City. Welcome back to The Weekly, a series dedicated to my weekly finds, reads, and musings. Let’s get into it.
1 | Under 40 Fridays at the Met
It was such a pleasure to finally spend a night at The Metropolitan Opera. Annie and I popped over the west side to see the exquisite production of La Boheme. Select Friday performances over the course of The Met’s schedule offer special ticket pricing for patrons under 40! And, some of them have themed cocktail parties prior to the performance with free food, activities, and wine! 11/10 would recommend for a very “New York” night. Check out my shimmer-y holiday party appropriate makeup tutorial to use this season that I did for the evening.
2 | Home for Thanksgiving
I was super excited to finally spend Thanksgiving in Virginia after several years staying in the city. While the history of the holiday is problematic at best, it’s still a wonderful time to spend with family and an excuse to make the most decadent of family recipes. Belly and hearts were full! I also was able to see the Hunger Games prequel at the movies. I did not read the book prior to seeing the movie (abnormal for me) but still enjoyed it! I almost wish it had been a TV show rather than a film. A lot of plot lines and secondary character arcs felt rushed and I think a limited series or TV show would have been an exciting way to explore more of the Hunger Games world.
3 | COLD AF
I came back to abnormally cool temperatures in the city for this time of year. But, truthfully, I’m not complaining. I like the chill that comes with the winter season. Bundling up in blankets in my apartment feels justified, ya know? I finally got to put the oversized leather jacket that I picked out from Nuuly to good use. Avec Les Filles always has killer outerwear and this one did not disappoint. It’s a bit bulky and oversized. If that’s your vibe, you’ll love!
4 | Holiday Party Szn Begins with Sézane
As you probably know by now, I’ve become a big fan of Sézane over the past few weeks. I’ve been able to sample a lot of their new collections and have been impressed at every turn. Their knitwear is unmatched. The Valerio Jacket is still my absolute favorite. The fabric is exquisite (50% Organic Cotton, 50% Merino Wool — 100% perfect). They’ve been having charming holiday events all week at their flagship here in New York City and it was a treat. We got to pick out a scarf/beanie set and a toiletry bag. Super cute!!
5 | Midi Denim Skirt Apologist
When I finally got my hands on the Mango midi denim skirt, I knew it would be a favorite addition to my closet. I know they are extremely trendy, but I also think it’ll be a classic piece in my closet for years. It’s a welcome addition to my black clothing selects and pairs so easily with a lot of my winter staples. 11/10 would recommend the black version over the traditional blue denim!
6 | Big Month For TV
I’ve also been breezing through a lot of new series. It’s cold outside and there’s been a lot of holiday lounging. I’ve finished up Silo (so good), The Witcher (s1/2 are too good), and Upload S3 (This is a Robbie Amell stan blog). New episodes are currently dropping for The Gilded Age and The Buccaneers and I’m enjoying both so far!
7 | Random Black Friday Buys
I don’t typically do that much Black Friday/Cyber Monday shopping. But, it’s usually the time that I stock up on basics, essentials, or random things I’ve heard of over the year but don’t want to pull the trigger on until they go on major sale. I picked up a few Chamberlain Coffee products (varitey cold brew singles and Vanilla ground coffee to start) and I’m giving Care/of custom vitamin packs a try! Will report back with thoughts!
8 | 30 Days of Outfits in December
I’m back with another round of 30 Days of Outfits! I feel like I’ve really been slacking in the posting and style department. I love a challenge to really get back into the swing of things. I’ll be posting my OOTD’s on both Instagram and TikTok, so be sure to follow me over on your favorite platform of choice for all the late fall/early winter style inspo.
That’s all I’ve got for your today. See you next week!
