Hi! We’re finally back with another installment of The Weekly — a series dedicated to my weekly finds, reads, and musings. Basically, the blog version of the TikTok trend “weekly R.E.P.O.R.T.” Let’s get into it.
1 | Advocating For Palestine
I’ve been regularly sending emails and calling my representatives in Congress to demand a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict and for our government to stop supplying arms to the Israeli military and government. You can learn more on how to do this here. To learn more about the history of the region, check out this resource.
2 | Reneé Day
I saw the effervescent Reneé Rapp last night and it was literally magical. I absolutely adore both her EP and her album, Snow Angel. Her makeup is also always a slay and I created a Reneé inspired makeup look for social (on TikTok and Instagram).
3 | #BeautyTok
On that note, I have been very much loving making beauty content on TikTok recently and have had a lot of fun experiment with new makeup techniques, products and connecting with some of my favorite brands. I even got the chance to visit the TikTok office last week to learn more about the Orveon group (Laura Mercier, Bare Minerals, Buxom) It was such a surreal experience! Be sure to follow me on TikTok for regular tutorials, inspiration videos, and product reviews and first impressions. Linking some of my favorite products from October below!
4 | Sézane Lovers
My jaw dropped when French atelier, Sézane, emailed me a couple of months ago. I’ve been loving trying out some of their pieces. It’s still too early for a formal in depth review, but I am loving everything I’ve picked out from the brand so far. Their knitwear is definitely their hero product. Every sweater has been soft, well-constructed, and compliment magnets. My favorite styles have been the Gaspard cardigan (designed to wear two ways), the Paula babies (my favorite kitten heel for fall) and the Juan top (the most perfect square neck layering piece — I have it in both colors).
5 | ShopMy
If you’re ever curious about what I’m wearing in an Instagram post or story, for a TikTok video, or on YouTube, you need to check out my shopmy! I’ve been religiously linking all kinds of items there and regularly updating my closet with new purchases. You can also find what I’m loving in makeup, lifestyle, and home! This is an affiliate linking platform so I make a small commission when you shop using my links — but it’s at no additional cost to you! Thank you for your support!!
6 | Movies, Music, TV — oh my!
The SAG-AFTRA strike is still going on so I won’t be making any movie/tv content just yet. However, I’m still updating my Letterboxd if you’re curious about what I’ve been watching. There is so much coming out this month, I will be in the theater more days than not. I’m excited!! Taylor Swift dropped her re-record of 1989, one of my favorite albums from her! I’m nothing if not a pop girly. The vault tracks were definitely the highlight. My favorites are Now That We Don’t Talk, Suburban Legends, and Is It Over Now. Also, during my hiatus, Olivia Rodrigo dropped GUTS which I also loved. My favorite tracks from her sophomore album were ballad of a homeschooled girl, get him back!, and love is embarassing.
7 | Content Requests
I’m currently in a TikTok renaissance and have been loving creating consistent beauty and fashion content on the platform. I’ve been posting daily — be sure to follow me so you don’t miss anything! I’m trying to ease back into consistently posting on Instagram and YouTube with more lifestyle content. I’m curious what you would like to see from me. I see the most positive feedback and engagement from ootd and cooking content so I’ll definitely be incorporating more of that on IG. I’m really just trying to make my vlogs super useful and entertaining for you. I haven’t figured out the best way to do this quite yet. But, I’m working on it!!
8 | GoodReads Goals
I am about 9 books shy of my GoodReads yearly goal at the moment. And it’s definitely doable. In 2021, I read 10 books in December alone. My NYPL card has seen major action over the last few months as I’m trying (really hard!!) to buy less books. My apartment can only hold but so many. I just finished Malibu Rising, Vicious, and The Atlas Six. I’m currently reading All Her Little Secrets for book club(!!) and have The Only One Left on deck.
9 | Three Word Method
At the beginning of the year, I set out to get better at my makeup [check], find my signature hairstyle[check], and strengthen my personal style[in progress]. I’ve been researching the seven essences and the three word method like a mad woman. Although… I am a professionally trained researcher so it makes sense. Right now, I’m exploring the romantic essence as well as deciding on my three words (currently sensual, classic, and artful). It’s been fun to audit my outfits, closet, and shopping habits over the year.
10 | Cosplaying as a New York Socialite
I love fall in New York! While I didn’t do many fall activities in the city and haven’t been in Central Park as much as I usually am, I have been outside. I laughed at JaJa’s African Hair Braiding on Broadway and 100% would recommend. It is closing this month! Fotografiska invited me to preview the Frank Ockenfels 3 show that opened this month. Got a crash course on all things Fenty in Chelsea at the Fenty Beauty Experience. And, I got creative at Color Me Mine for a Paint + Sip night. It’s always a joy to explore different areas of the city and try new activities with friends!
Okay, that’s all I have for this week! I hope you enjoyed, and I’ll be back next week for another update.
