Hiiiiiii! It’s Friday and welcome back to The Weekly: a collection of anecdotes, reviews, and recommendations. Let’s dig in!!

The Weekly 10

1) Instagram drops a companion, text-based app, “Threads”. 100% immediate yes from me. I had a huge Twitter era in high school and college. Recent changes to Twitter made it a no go zone and I’m honestly very excited that Instagram ripped them off, lmao. Best decision since IG stories frankly. Give me a follow — though I can’t promise I won’t be annoying. Also, hoping we see new features drop over the next few weeks. I’m most anxious to see a Following Feed and post drafts implemented soon. You could say I’m definitely feeling thready.

2) Indiana Jones + The Dial of Destiny was an easy watch. My weekend movie of choice last week was the latest and likely final installation of the Indiana Jones franchise. Overall, I think it did the job. I actually really enjoy action movies and I think this had a nice mix of action and plot development. Also, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a gem; loved seeing her in an action film!

3) Entering my skincare era, again. I would say I got really into skincare again at the top of the year after being served a few skincare TikToks — as it goes. A simple skincare routine is best and I rarely switch up my routine. I love love love the french skincare brand, La Roche Posay. I also had a trial size of the Glow Recipe Dew Drops and gotta say it’s a definite repurchase.

4) My mom sent me a “happy”. I made a TikTok about this, but a “happy” is essentially a little treat that my mom used to buy me when I was younger. It would usually be small trinkets, makeup, or other things I had my eye on to spend my allowance money on. (Tell me your love language is gifts, without telling me.) She sent me some cute items from Anthropologie — she knows me so well. Shop my new earrings and kitsch claw clips!

5) Naturium drops new colors of their Phyto-Glow Lip Balms. I have no idea how they’re PR team got my address, but anyway, Naturium sent me their new collection of lip balm shades. I think the brand in general is trending on TikTok, but I hadn’t gotten a chance to try any of their products. The lip balms are good. Very good. I love Hibiscus for a pinky day time moment. Plum, Goji, and Spritz are fun for night time. They also recommend using them as a lip mask overnight!

6) I finished homebodies, and I am neutral. I am really trying to get out my book slump and can’t quite find my rhythm. After a week to mull, homebodies was disappointing. It had an interesting premise and even stronger set up. But, when we’re three-quarters of the way through and we’ve yet to reach the rising action, I’m concerned.

This is now the second book I’ve read this year where the author struggles to find any resolution to the questions they them self asked and I imagine sought to shed light on. Maybe, that’s the point, but it also feels like a massive cop out. However, I did start Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton and I’m really enjoying it. I’m also excited because I’ll be picking up Honey & Spice and Love on the Brain ****from the library today! Sign up for your NYPL card; you will not regret!

7) The Saie Glowy Super Skin Foundation is a new favorite for summer. I am a sweaty girl and try to in general avoid wearing a ton of makeup during the season. And, I hate cakey foundation in general. So, dewy, radiant finishes are what generally entice me. I’ve been trying the Saie Glowy Super Skin foundation for a bit since they sent it to me in the spring. Final verdict is big yes! I will say that my main goal when I’m wearing the product is to even out my skin tone and cover hyperpigmentation. You also have to be a little careful with your prime + prep steps. Less is more here. I prefer the shade 27; but shade 26 also works for me!

8) Summer is time for purchasing random lifestyle hack products. I don’t know why but I always find myself purchasing random knick knack and trinkets during summer. Picnic blankets, portable fans, thigh anti-chafe sticks, and handheld photo lights are just a few of the things that I’ve picked up in the summer months. Also, necessary is an umbrella and a mini deodorant. Don’t get caught slipping!

9) July is going to be a month for movies and I CANNOT wait. Joy Ride drops today (7/7), Mission Impossible (7/12), Theater Camp (7/14), Oppenheimer and Barbie (7/21), and Haunted Mansion (7/28). Here is where I make a strong case for you joining AMC A-List if more than one of these look appealing to you!

10) I have a few beige flags and one is my frequent use of Amazon Echo Dot’s Alexa feature. It’s tough being a strong supporter of the Smart Home functionality that Amazon has released in the past few years. I have two Echo Dots. One in my living room and one in my bedroom and I have them synced up to run routines, play music simultaneously, and control light switches throughout my apartment. I cannot go back. This is my truth.
