Fall fashion is simply the best. Ever since I moved to NYC, I’ve developed a commitment to good outerwear. Boots, hats, and hair accessories are also the easiest way to elevate a look. I do however think there are some key staples that are having a moment in stores right now. I’m personally looking to stock my closet with fall staples to hopefully keep forever. Let’s get into my picks for fall.

1 | Blazer
I, for one, am glad that blazers are trending at the moment. I love when a classic piece goes “trendy”. It makes it so easy to find your favorite fit, color, pattern, fabric, etc. I love a slightly oversized fit. I have a plaid patterned one but would love to add a solid black and tan one to the mix. My favorite picks on the market right now are this one from WhoWhatWear and the insanely popular Forever Blazer from Djerf Avenue.

2 | Leather
Leather is also a classic cosplaying as “trendy” at the moment. I love this for us. Personally, I think a standard leather pant, skirt, or jacket will always be chic. I also have my eye on a leather trench or car coat.

3 | Knee High Boots
Knee high boots are the staple I want to love but have such a hard time finding. I love the look of a knee high boot with tights, skirts, maxi dresses. There are an infinite amount of ways to style them. Duo Boots seems like the best option at the moment, so I’ll be splurging! They come in a bunch of simple(and super cute) styles with 8 different calf size measurements. I also love my Dolce Vita cowboy boots that aren’t as high up and probably fit a range of different calf sizes.

4 | Loafers
The past few seasons have seen the resurgence of some of the best staple pieces. The penny loafer is one of my favorites. I LOVE taking this very preppy, Dad on a Sunday shoe and styling it against either your most feminine dresses, blouses, and skirts or your edgiest leather ensemble. Academia in fashion has never been so good. Loafers also pair nicely with the wildly popular striped sweater that is having a total renaissance this season.

5 | Midi Skirt
I have so much love for the midi skirt. I really resonate with the inherent chicness of the midi skirts and dresses I’ve seen in stores lately. They aren’t as precarious as a mini dress in the fall wind and not as overwhelming as a maxi dress on us short gals. Bonus points if you can find one with a tasteful slide slit to show off you fall boots.
