10 TV Shows To Stream Now

It’s probably a surprise to literally no one that I love movies and TV. I’ve seen so many films and shows in my lifetime that I think I can sometimes freak people out with the wide range of references that I can make. I mean it seriously ranges from 12 Years a Slave to Lemonade Mouth. I have such a great appreciation for the film and TV industry and will take any opportunity to see a new film or start a new show.

Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time indulging in series on streaming services. You can find most of these shows on Netflix or Hulu and I love all of them. Keep scrolling to see my top picks of shows to watch right now. Some will have you laughing so hard till you cry and others will have you on the edge of your toes waiting for the next shoe to drop. Let’s get into it.

10 TV Shows To Watch Now

The 100

The 100 is first on the list because I think it holds the record for me in “fastest show to binge 5 whole seasons”. The first few seasons of The 100 are SO good especially if you like dystopian teen dramas. It follows 100 teens in a post-apocalyptic journey to see if the earth is still inhabitable. It’s got love triangles, action, and lots of drama. It’s still running on the CW, but you can catch up on all the old seasons of Netflix.

New Girl

New Girl is my favorite TV comedy. It is very well written and anyone who’s lived with roommates will think it is genuinely hilarious. The characters really develop into personalities as the show progresses and are so complex. Once you watch, let me know which character you identify with. I’ve been told I’m a Winston and I can’t argue with it. The entire series is available on Netflix.

The White Queen

The White Queen is the first season in the Starz adaptation of medieval Europe and its succession of English kings and queens. The White Queen is the story of Elizabeth who marries Edward during the War of the Roses in England. The only thing I can say is that Game of Thrones could never. If you’re into historical dramas, this will 100% be your jam. It does require the Starz add on for Hulu, but you can watch the entire series and the sequel series The White Princess and The Spanish princess which are equally good.

Good Trouble

I may never outgrow my love for YA dramas. Good Trouble is just too good and so relevant to pass up. I grew up with the groundbreaking show, The Fosters. Good Trouble follows leads to Callie and Mariana in their early adult life aka so dang relatable. They move to LA and are faced with a lot of questions and situations that people my age are tackling daily. Also, the eye candy on that show is just!! It’s available on Hulu and the Freeform app.

Reign

Reign is the OG historical period piece that had my heart. It follows Mary, Queen of Scots and her time in France and as a ruler in Scotland. The costumes are beautiful and the plotline seems pretty realistic even when there was clear artistic license used. I was very much obsessed with this show when it aired live while I was in college, but the whole series is on Netflix and 100% worth the watch.

Good Girls

Good Girls is so good!!!! Thank you to my gal, Allie, for introducing it to me. First off, it’s a classic social commentary on gender roles, health care, and disparity in socioeconomic status. It’s funny as heck and the female leads are both lovable and frustrating. One of the best dramas on TV right now! The first two seasons are currently on Netflix.

The Bold Type

The Bold Type is set in New York City which already means I was interested in it. It follows three boss bitch gals trying to make it in digital media and fashion. It gives pretty great insight into relationships, career changes, and changing society as a twenty-something. Overall, it’s really well done and a must-watch for any twenty-something gal or guy! The old seasons are available on Hulu and the show is still airing on Freeform and just got renewed!

The Society

So, this one made the list because it’s pretty new to Netflix. It is remarkably stupid. But, the characters are complicated and it follows a very Lord of the Flies-esque arc. I mostly watched the whole show because I like a show that puts young people in charge. It is a roller coaster of a plotline and the actors are pretty good. It ends on a very weird note, but I have no doubt that Netflix will make the next season worth watching.

Jane The Virgin

Jane the Virgin is one of my all-time favorite shows ever. It gives a look into Latinx culture and the acting, plotline, and characters are all phenomenal. You will love and hate each and every person on the show. It also does a pretty great job of interweaving popular and political culture into the show. Justin Baldoni is one of my favorite humans and makes being #TeamRafael so worth it. The final season is currently airing on The CW but all the old seasons are on Netflix.

Scandal

Scandal is my favorite show. Ever. It’s a bold statement, but it is a wild, political drama with a black woman as the lead. It touches on pretty much every relevant societal issue of the time. I always ask myself what Olivia Pope would do. Shonda Rhimes is the queen of writing monologues that will make you feel exactly what the character is feeling. The entire series is available on Netflix and I really wish more people would watch it so I can discuss it. It’s so WILD.
