At this time last year, I was jet setting all over the country on my graduate school interviews. I became a legitimate pro when it comes to carry-on travel. Even a couple of weeks ago in the madness of holiday travel, a woman commented on my calm and collected demeanor. I was adequately navigating 4 large electronic devices, a heavy carry on, and a larger winter jacket. Yes, I have this under control people.
It’s mostly easy to navigate because my travel accessories keep me organized. I also still appear stylish and chic. I thrive in the mini world of the airport and today I’m sharing my favorite goodies that I always have with me. If you’re headed on trips in 2019 [I think everyone’s resolution was to travel more], this one is for you.

The Perfect Carry On
My carry on of choice I have mentioned several times now on the blog. The Calpak Astyll Marble Carry On is seriously so perfect. It’s big enough to fit enough clothes for 8-10 days [with the right packing skills]. It’s also not too bad of an investment and will last you for years. I’ve already had mine for 2 years now and it still looks like new. Calpak has such affordable suitcases but also prioritizes style which I love.
A Chic Personal Bag
A chic personal bag is going to automatically upgrade the leggings and t-shirt you rolled out of bed in. I would highly recommend that you put on some more high functioning clothes to make you feel more on top of it. I love jeans, my Levi’s tee, and a leather jacket with a pair of black booties. I personally use my North Face backpack but I think the Dagne Dover Backpack is an incredible steal. I think it takes my basic outfit from simple to stylish. It’s all about the accessories, am I right or am I right?! It’s big enough for everything that you’ll want on the plane {think: laptop, book, mini travel kit, SLGs}
My Favorite Water Bottle {Emptied}
I’ve recently added my Hydroflask to my must-have essentials for airport travel. There’s nothing worse than the dehydrated feeling that comes after a long flight. It takes a toll on your skin and energy levels. I always bring it to the airport emptied, duh. But, I speed walk to the nearest water fountain immediately to fill it up. Being able to keep hydrated is so great and so I definitely recommend bringing along your favorite water bottle. If I didn’t have a Hydroflask, I would probably opt for the white marble S’well bottle. 100% fits my aesthetic.
SLG for Your Power Cords
I always joke on my mom because she is the queen of pouches. But, the joke was all on me because a good collection of randomly sized pouches will come in handy for you on travel day. I love a good faux leather pouch to keep my money, cards, and a passport, perhaps. You can look for a waterproof version to hold makeup, hand sanitizer, lotion, and blotting papers to create a touch-up kit [more on that later]. This leather pouch from Madewell is beautifully made and this one would make the perfect on the go makeup bag.
Handy Dandy Travel Kit
There are so many companies that are making on the go travel kits. I think that you could easily make your own, but what’s the fun in that. Actually, it would probably involve going to Target and that would be fun. I absolutely adore this kit from Pinch Provisions; you’ve definitely seen these in Francesca’s and little knick-knack stores. There are so many random versions of it to fit pretty much any travel scenario possible. I would basically always have an extra USB charger for your phone, tissues, some Tylenol/Advil/Midol, headphones, a pen, travel size deodorant, and a tiny sample size of perfume.

Those are my favorite things to have along with me on flights. The last time I traveled with a big suitcase was when I was headed to an academic conference last fall. So, I know how to pack light and make it look like a breeze. What are your travel tips and how do you keep your cool when on the go?
Keep on keepin’ on,
