I feel like I’ve made my new personal brand all about being a city girl because the past few months have taught me that is 100% the case. I’ve also realized that there are essentials that everyone needs if they’re going to make it in any big city. Gift guide season can be super overwhelming for bloggers because we are constantly being bombarded with them for a whole two months. I am constantly online shopping and looking for deals anyway for things that I need to buy for myself. So, I figured it would be convenient to throw you all the links in case you are interested. Now, let’s get into it and if there are any other gift guides that you would want to see then I’d love to do that for you. Just let me know in the comments down below. I’m thinking maybe one for Secret Santas, co-workers, or new friends!

The City Gal: A Gift Guide
Air Pods
I’ve already said how much I love these in pretty much every post since my dad bought them for me in August. I still love them and they never fall out of my ears, I promise! Apple products are rarely ever on sale so I couldn’t find any good sales on this one. BUT, if you buy them from Best Buy, you’ll get 3 months free of Apple Music.
Comfy&Cute Boots
My Timberland boots were probably one of the smarter purchases that I’ve made since moving to the city. They are amazing quality and kept my feet warm and dry during that random first snow of the season. There are so many different styles, but I love the idea of sneaker boots because you can mix the warm and dryness with a shoe that is commuter friendly. These are 30% off until November 27th and so cute!!
Stylish Backpack
I carry my Amazon bookbag around everywhere. It seriously is the best for weekend excursions around the city. Who knew that ASOS was the hidden gem of stylish backpacks. There are seriously so many styles from sporty to chic. I personally have this one and this one from Calpak in my own shopping cart/on my wishlist. ASOS is running an extra 25% off and Calpak is running an extra 15% off for Black Friday!
Cold Weather Accessories
Scarves are my favorite cold weather accessory and I think they are such an easy way to take an outfit from plain to next level stylish. This one from Boohoo has been all over my Instagram and y’all loved it. Here’s one that’s super similar and in festive holiday colors so perfect for all those outdoor activities. The newsboy cap trend is also v. cute and hats are essential for the cold weather. Nastygal and Boohoo are both running crazy 60% off sales and are good places to stock up on accessories in general.
Reusable Straws
The reusable straw is great for those who are able to! We love saving the earth around here. I personally find that a lot of the specialty coffee shops are starting to switch over to straw-less alternatives. No one really wants to buy these metal straws for themselves so these could make cute stocking stuffers or for a new friend who’s mentioned she’s been meaning to order them for the entire time you’ve known her! Love this set from Amazon that has a rose gold, gold, and silver options with a cute carrying case and cleaners!
Cute Carry On Suitcase
The thing about being in a big city means you’re probably near an equally large airport. Which can only mean one thing… you’re tempted with cheaper flights all the time. I’m already plotting my weekend excursions for 2019. My super cute Calpak suitcases are the perfect travel partners and can fit so much stuff. I’ve packed for up 5 days in my carry on sized one. Calpak is running 15% off and you can get a super good bundle deal with the carry-on, packing cubes, and a vanity case!
Hydroflask
Another SUPER smart purchase that I made a little while back is my Hydroflask. I’m an NYC local now, so that means I had to get it in black. These are pretty pricey which makes them hard to justify when using your own money. BUT, they make the perfect practical gift. We all need to keep our friends hydrated. I ordered mine on Amazon but you can get it online at Dick’s Sporting Goods for 25% off on Black Friday.
Portable Charger
I’ve been telling myself that I need to get a portable charger for months. And now that I’ve upgraded my phone to the XR [I love it by the way], I know that it will be at least 6 more months until I actually pick it up. I do honestly think that everyone should have one of these. Anker has a ton of different options on Amazon and who doesn’t love a chance to cash in on that Amazon Prime shipping?
Rollerball Perfume
A nice perfume is one of those “I’m officially an adult and should probably do adult things.” item. I keep a Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy perfume rollerball in my purse at all times. It’s a scent I’ve loved since middle school and is so versatile. Sephora and Ulta Beauty have a huge collection of perfumes in rollerball form. Ulta Beauty is giving away a free gift with purchase and always has good coupons. Sephora has some of the most iconic beauty holiday sets every season and are totally worth checking out.
Fun Coat
When you’re walking everywhere and it’s brisk, your fashion street style is greatly controlled by your outerwear game. In NYC especially, the outerwear game is strong. I’ve heard stores like Zara and MANGO have some super cute ones. Also, we know that I love a good teddy coat, you can buy these for a range of prices now. I.AM.GIA is the OG one and a little pricey but there are some more affordable options here and here. This one from Gap is 50% off for Black Friday [code: BLKFRIDAY] and similar to one that I have from Old Navy that literally goes with everything.
Mini Wallet/Wristlet
This one I have to HIGH KEY recommend and makes a super stinkin’ good gift. I like one with an outer pocket for holding my metro card and plenty of space for my ID, credit cards, and a little bit of cash. I have multiple that I like to rotate through. My favorite brands are Fossil and Tory Burch. My momma spoiled me for my 22nd birthday and treated me to a Louis Vuitton key clay. I use it every day and is totally worth the price!
Face Masks
The city air is rough on the skin and I’ve noticed that you really have to put work into making sure that it stays healthy. I have a big stack of face masks that I’ve recently started actually using and my skin feels a lot better. It’s a nice treat after a long week of school and work. Anthropologie has one of the best in-store face mask selections and is totally worth checking out. In fact, their entire trinket section has some of the best small gifts ever. The candles smell amazing and the mugs are always a solid option. I always try to buy face masks in a set and this one from Peter Roth is on my radar.
Phone Case
I finally got a new phone and I am living my best life. My iPhone 6s was a good one but I needed something that could handle my excessive use of Google Maps and Instagram for longer than 6 hours. I have the iPhone XR now which means that I needed to search for a new phone case to relieve my very favorite marble case from Amazon. The Casetify ones are so dang cute and they are BOGO free right now for their Black Friday sale. I’m also waiting patiently for a privacy protection screen protector so that I feel completely comfortable on the subway and bus looking at important things without someone looking over my shoulder.
Laundry Backpack
Fun fact: my friends used to make fun of me because I had one of those grocery carrier carts when I lived on the third floor of a walk up apartment in Chapel Hill. It was so much easier to carry everything up in two trips. I highly recommend contraptions like this for groceries and laundry. Amazon has so many options and of course, you can find super cute options from PB teen #typical. A super practical gift for a friend, a funny one for White Elephant, and a good use of money if you want to buy it for yourself. I high key recommend.
SHOP THIS POST
These sales are good y’all. So many cute and stylish options are on all my favorite sites. I high key recommend that you shop Cyber Week for all your gift needs. I anticipate that stores will have major restocks too! Do you like Black Friday or Cyber Week shopping? I’ve recently become an online shopping person, but tend to hit up stores the Saturday after Black Friday for good deals and smaller crowds too. Let me know what things you pick up for yourself! I’ll just be watching aggressively early Black Friday hauls on Youtube.
keep on keepin’ on,
