So, now that I’ve finally been settled in for a month and 3 weeks now (woah). It’s finally time to slow down into a normal-ish routine. YES, that means bringing back the budget and making smarter choices when it comes to… well, everything. So, here are some of the things I’m focusing on in the month of October as I usher in the pure joy that is fall in New York City. Catch me frolicking through Central Park all month long.
1. Drinking more water with the cute/trendy water bottle you just bought.
Yep, I did it. I went ahead and purchased the Hydroflask with the straw mouth. I think I’m going to also invest in the sports cap, but I am in love with this water bottle. It’s similar to the love I had for my Camelbak back in high school. As cliched as this is going to sound, it truly keeps your water COLD. I can easily go through 3 bottles in a day which is 90 oz of water. Of course, I got it in the black version and I think I’m going to spice it up with some stickers from Redbubble.
2. Experimenting with different workouts while also exploring your city.
I made the glorious discovery of the Instagram account @theclasscult aka every beginner’s guide to boutique workouts. I’m purely reworking my budget so that I can take 2-4 specialty classes outside of my gym each month. This month I’ll have my eyes on Shadowbox and 305 Fitness. But, I’ve been going through their reviews of all the trendy workout classes around the city and I’m so pumped to try out lots of options. I also need to check out ClassPass and hit up that one-month free when you join!
3. Taking a break from work/your side hustle to hang with friends.
I’ve been doing a great job with this one since moving. My weekends are purely for me except not this weekend. Your girl has two exams to finesse next week and there is no time for slacking in my first semester of grad school. But, I always make sure to take time for myself and hang out with my new friends in the city. These pictures were taken during a trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden with Michelle! You can see the vlog here and be sure to check out her channel too!

4. Eating less processed, sugary foods and head to your local farmer’s market.
I’ve been going back and forth about doing Whole30 for the past week and I’m still not sure if it’s really for me. I don’t have stomach problems and I know exactly where my breakouts and bloated-ness come from. So, hypothetically I just need to hit the moderation button on processed junk food. I’m combing through Pinterest looking for recipes to spice my meal plan up a little bit for the next couple of weeks.
5. Taking multi-vitamins from a brand who understands the power of cute packaging.
Okay, really this should just read taking multi-vitamins, but OLLY seriously has the best packaging. I’ve been taking the Women’s MULTI vitamins for the past month and a half and I love them. I am the 22-year-old that still takes gummy vitamins. It’s a great way to start off the day! I picked up the Sleep vitamins to try here and there and I can finally sleep through the night without waking up 20 times. YES.
But, vitamins are such a great way to cover yourself and to make sure you’re getting all those olic-acids and what not. I was a biochemistry major and I’m still not 100% sure which acid does what. I can tell you that a lot of vitamins are needed for super important biochemical reactions in your body and have to come from external sources aka food. That’s all the nerding-out I have for today’s post. But, if your a vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, only-eat-meat-at-restaurants-ian, or even a never-eat-my-veggies-ian, it’s super important you get all those special nutrients to help your body out.
It’s been an incredible month and 3 weeks, but I’m ready for a balanced indefinite amount of time spent making good, healthy, and beneficial choices. What is your focus for the month? I’m curious so shoot me a comment down below!
Keep on keepin’ on.
