Weekly Brew | Vol. 11: Weekend in Chapel Hill

Hey y’all! This past weekend, my friend Chloe and I drove down to North Carolina to visit Gabby at Chapel Hill and my friend from college in Raleigh!

This past weekend, my friend Chloe and I drove down to North Carolina to visit Gabby at Chapel Hill and my friend from college in Raleigh!

What I’ve Been Up To

Chapel Hill

Now, I know you’re like Hannah, I bet you and Gabby got some really fun blog pictures during your trip! and unfortunately, the answer is LOL NOPE.

Gabby and I did not take a ~single~ picture together over the weekend, and we even went to brunch!! Are we real bloggers?? IDK!!

In Raleigh, we visited my friend Daniel in his new apartment and went to The Pit for some authentic Carolina-style BBQ! The hush puppies they brought out before the meal were to die for.

We also hit up this cute little rose garden, but the summer heat got the best of us so we headed to Chapel Hill to meet Gabby!

After we met Gabby at the Old Well, we basically ate our way through Franklin Street, hitting up Carolina Coffee Roasters, Ye Olde Waffle, and Linda’s Bar & Grill.

All in all, it was a super-fun, quick little trip! Raleigh and Chapel Hill are both beautiful, and I would love to explore Raleigh a little more in my next visit!

What I’ve Been Loving

Some sections contain affiliate links, which means we make a small commission with every purchase (at no extra cost to you!). Thanks for supporting the Swirl!

Reading

I picked up Celeste Ng’s Everything I Never Told You from the local library because Little Fires Everywhere was already checked out! (Note to self: reserve books online before you get there!) Anyways, I really love Ng’s writing style and how the story is a murder mystery!

I also picked up Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan, which is the third novel in his Crazy Rich Asians trilogy. I loved the first book but found the second one a little boring, so I’m interested to see how he completes the story!

Listening To

Chloe and I are big fans of 70s music, so we put on Spotify’s “70s FM Radio Rider” playlist for most of our trip! I’ll also link my July playlist, which now includes Chance’s new songs that he dropped last week!

This was a big week for podcasts as 2 of my favorite girl-boss duos released podcasts this week—Caitlyn Stone & Abigail Thomas with Girls Talk and Danielle Carolan & Brooke Miccio with Gals on the Go!

I can’t wait to add these podcasts into my weekly rotation. Also, I think I’m going to do a post all about podcasts next week—is that something y’all would be interested in?? Let me know down below in the comments!

Buying

I won’t bore you with my picks from the Nordstrom Sale because I’ve already written a post with affordable workwear pieces from the sale *hint hint, go read it*!

I also bought two really exciting/adult-y things from Prime Day! The first is this incredible portable charger from Anker that stores 5-7 full phone charges on it. I brought it to Raleigh and charged my phone with it 3 times, and it’s still at full battery!

The second thing I bought are these little $5(!) Rubbermaid “Lunch Blox” containers that will be perfect for putting my work lunch/work snacks in next month!

Next up I’m looking for a good lunch box, so make sure to let me know your suggestions down below in the comments!

That’s it for this week’s Brew! I’m sorry about the lack of photos; this HTTP error is really frustrating! Next month is gonna be huge for me and Gabby cause we’re moving to DC & NYC, so make sure to follow along on Twitter and Instagram @theswirlblog! Have a great week, y’all!
