Today on the blog I’m sharing my Washington DC bucket list!
In case you missed our latest Q&A, I’m moving up to Washington DC soon so I’ve spent these last few post-grad weeks combing through Pinterest to find the best restaurants, bars, shopping, museums, and other attractions that DC has to offer!
Below is the interactive map I’ve been creating! You can filter the map by layers (museums, coffee, drinks, etc) by clicking on the far left icon on the grey bar or open it up to full screen by clicking on the far right icon. Below I’m highlighting a few things on my Washington DC bucket list that I’m most excited about!
Washington DC Bucket List Highlights
Museums
Air & Space Museum (National Mall): I’ve been to this museum several times as a little kid, and it’s still one of my favorite museums anywhere in the world.
Newseum (555 Pennsylvania Ave NW): I’ve also been to this museum as a little kid (I know, these aren’t really “bucket list” items but I’m counting them anyway) and I love all the cool artifacts they have: Elvis Presley’s original credit card, a piece of the Berlin Wall that you can touch, and a collection of newspapers from around the world that is updated daily.
Food
Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken (1308 G Street NW): Pretty sure this name says it all.
Union Street Market (1309 5th Street NE): I’m so excited to walk around this market and check out all the different food vendors/stalls. Plus there’s a mural so you know you’ll be seeing some pictures of it on our Instagram.
District Doughnut (3327 Cady’s Alley NW): I just really love doughnuts, okay??
Drinks
DNV Rooftop (1155 14th Street NW): A rooftop bar with views of the city.
Harold Black (212 7th Street NE): I’ve always wanted to go to a speakeasy bar, and one with a secret sliding door for an entrance sounds like so much fun.
Coffee
Dog Tag Bakery (3206 Grace Street NW): A coffee shop and bakery in Georgetown owned & operated by veterans. It’s also right across the street from one of my favorite stores (actually a dream store, because it’s $$), Tuckernuck.
Jimmy T’s Place (501 E Capitol Street NE): A family-run coffee shop that’s been around for decades and only takes cash.
Other Things to See
National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Ave NW): Only 4 zoos in the US have pandas, and the National Zoo is one of them!
Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2700 F Street NW): Hamilton is showing for 14 weeks and while I can’t afford $625 orchestra seats, I’m definitely going to enter their daily #HAM4HAM lottery for $10 tickets!
I’m really excited to move up to DC and start exploring all of the places on my bucket list! If there’s something you think I should see but isn’t on my list, let me know down in the comments! And makes sure follow us on Twitter and Instagram (links on the top bar) for our latest DC/NYC updates!
