Wow wow wow you guys. It’s been a hot minute since I sat down to chat with y’all. [Do most of my posts start out like this? Yeppp. But it’s the summer and with no school and no job (’til August!), I have so much time to get back to blogging.]
I had a ton of ideas for this post (college graduation, anyone??) but when I realized that today is our 3 year (!!!) blogging anniversary, I know I had to make this post a reflection, a thank you, and a teaser for what’s coming next on The Swirl!
A Reflection
This is our 277th post in 3 years, which means that we have written about a lot of topics. Because there are so many great posts to reminisce about, I’m sharing my favorite post from each category – baking, college, style, blogger basics, travel, and lifestyle.
Baking
While I’ve made some delicious treats in the past, one that always stands out (and one that I bring up pretty much every blog anniversary) is our crab cupcakes! I mean, c’mon guys. We nailed the execution with these cute cakes.
And I mean, for our 2nd post ever, the photography isn’t half bad!! I might need to make these again this summer just for fun.
College
Oh gosh, four years of college times two people means we had a lot of college wisdom to impart to our readers. I think my favorite college post though is our recent collaboration with Snapfish, just because the photos, cards, and canvas came out so cute! I can’t wait to hang the canvas up in my new apartment.
Style
I am just absolutely obsessed with Gabby’s jumpsuit in these photos, and her advice on personal style is an absolute must-read. It’s been so much fun to see how our styles have evolved over the years.
Blogger Basics
My favorite blogger basics post is all about street photography because that’s where I’ve really found my passion! I love traveling and capturing the energy of different places in a photograph. Shameless plug for my photography Instagram, @_hancam_!
Travel
I think my trip to Denver, Colorado last May really takes the cake here! I took so many incredible pictures of both nature and the city, and even made my first travel vlog.
Lifestyle
Gabby’s post on meal prep really inspired me to start looking at recipes that I can make once I start my job in DC! Plus, look at these pictures!?? I could go for some alfredo penne right about now.
Thank You
There’s not enough space in this post to thank everyone that has helped and supported us over the last three years. So, if you’re reading this post, as a first-time reader (hey wassup hello) or a long-time subscriber, THANK YOU!!
We truly couldn’t have made it this far without y’all, and it makes so happy to know that we’re inspiring and encouraging people every day. The blogging community is awesome, and we are truly blessed to have made some of the greatest friends from around the world over the course of three years.
Looking Forward
Since Gabby and I are out of college and soon to be living in the real world, we thought it’d be appropriate for a little theme change. We’ve continued our color scheme with more muted colors (because we’re #mature #adults now), and added new fonts and featured image formatting.
What do you guys think of the new change?? Leave a comment down below, or tweet us @theswirlblog!
Our content will also start to transition to more life/style/photography posts. While we loved college, we’ve written so so many posts on the topic so we’re excited to share new content! That’s not to say that we won’t ever write about college again (always send us any post suggestions!), but it won’t be our main focus anymore.
We’re also planning a pretty big giveaway soon (like $250 big), so be on the lookout for more details in the next few weeks! Thanks for keeping up with The Swirl, and here’s to many more years of blogging with my best friend!
so much love.
