If you’re like me, your phone is always around – in class, at the dining hall, studying, at the gym, and probably near your bed as well. Because my phone is always around, I love to use it as not only a way to check my social media but also to make my life a little bit easier! If I don’t have a calculator on me, I just pull one up on my phone. Calendar? Check. Need the weight of some compound for my chemistry class? You betcha, I just tap it into my phone.
There are a lot of awesome apps that don’t come with my phone that I would LOVE to download to increase my productivity, but as a #broke college student, I can’t go around dropping a couple of bucks (up to $10) on every app that I love! And what about those “free” apps, where you download them only to find out that you actually have to pay for the content you like? Super uncool. When that scenario happens to me, I usually uninstall the app and disappointedly poke around for (an actually free) similar app, usually to no avail.
That’s why I’m so excited to show you guys 3 of my FAVORITE apps that I found on the Amazon Underground store! The Amazon Underground store offers all of your favorite apps and games, COMPLETELY 100% FREE! And in case you didn’t know, “free” is this college girl’s favorite word.
With Amazon Underground, you can enjoy all the applications that you love without those annoying in-app purchases or micro-transactions. I was PUMPED when I found out about Amazon Underground, and I couldn’t wait to scroll through the over 3,000(!) free apps and games available to download on my Android smartphone. (Are you an Amazon Fire user? You already have access to all of these awesome apps – just visit the Apps section and look for the Amazon Underground catalog of games with the “Actually Free” sash!). Keep scrolling to find out which apps I’m absolutely obsessed with!
1. QuickScan Pro
As an engineer, I have a ton of hand-written homework to turn in every week. Sometimes, the professor wants an electronic copy of the homework, which requires me to scan my homework. But who has time to go to the nearest scanner? With this easy-to-use app, you can “scan” your notes / homework / photos with the click of a button! The interface of the app is easy to navigate, and you can scan multiple pages into a PDF document. I highly recommend this app if you like to keep electronic copies of your documents or need to turn in your written homework electronically! Below is a scan of my (very messy) chemistry lab notebook. Can you believe this “scan” was really just a picture taken from my phone?
2. Flashcard Machine
As a science major, a lot of my classes require me to memorize a ton of vocabulary. It can be really annoying having to carry around a stack of flashcards around when I need to study, so that’s why I was so excited to discover this app! You can create multiple flash card stacks based on different subjects, and quiz yourself over and over again. One of my favorite features of this app is that you can check “yes” or “no” on each flashcard to keep track of which ones you’ve gotten right or wrong! You can even flag the ones that you want to pay extra attention to.
3. DeStress Mandala Painting
Okay, so maybe this app won’t exactly help my productivity, but sometimes it’s nice to relax after class! Adult coloring books are all the rage now. With this app, you can carry around hundreds of coloring pages in your pocket! There are so many super cute designs to choose from, and you can “paint” with any color that you can think of! Here’s a sample of what I’ve been working on – I can’t wait to finish it! The Instagram video below highlights just how easy it is to create a beautiful masterpiece, right on your phone!
