Hey y’all! This week I’m kick off a series of guest posts on The Swirl! I’m really excited for y’all to meet some of our favorite bloggers and read their amazing articles.
This week I’m featuring an article called “How to: Be Productive This Summer” from Guilianna over at Guilianna Marie . This post really speaks to me because I’ve definitely been a little lazy since school got out, and I could definitely implement some of Guilianna’s tips (especially the spa day one)! Make sure to share this post and show her some love over on her social media pages, which I’ve linked to at the bottom!

Hi everyone!
I’m Guilianna, a beauty, fashion, and lifestyle blogger. Before I get into my post about being productive this summer, I wanted to say thanks to Gabby and Hannah for allowing me to guest post on their blog.
Now on with the post: It is so easy to sleep in until noon and waste the day away. It’s important to get a fresh start to your day and get something accomplished.
With that being said, here are my top tips for making the most of your summer days:
Wake up early.
I typically wake up early- even on the weekends- so that’s not a problem for me. I recommend sleeping in no later than 8:00 a.m.
Use the app: Sleep Better. It tracks your sleep cycles and wakes you up when you’re in a light sleep. I started using it back in January. I love it! I definitely felt a difference in the way I woke up and approached my mornings. I wasn’t half as tired as usual.
Have a healthy breakfast.
My favorite place to search for recipes is Pinterest. Try a new smoothie or maybe a crepe. Crepes are my absolute favorite!
Make a to-do list.
I typically do this while I’m eating my breakfast. If I’m not using my Lilly Pulitzer agenda, I’m using this template I found on Pinterest:
Keep up your fitness routine.
It doesn’t matter if you are an active gym goer, or if you like to lift weights in your basement. Either one works for me!
Personally, I love getting some fresh air. I recently took up hiking! It’s a great way to get outdoors and spend time with others.
If you’re not into the outdoors, a treadmill will work too. I love finding new exercises to do, again on Pinterest. I’ve found some great arm and leg workouts.
Manage your time throughout.
Be sure to set a side some time for Netflix, but don’t forget the other stuff too. Spend some time learning something new, spending time with friends, and doing other things you love.
Things to do…
If you don’t know what to do, here are some ideas: take a college course at your local community college or volunteer at your local hospital/soup kitchen. I am currently a junior in high school. I am spending my summer taking two college classes at my community college: Introduction to Psychology and Public Speaking. I am so excited; I am almost done my first year of college.
These two classes should definitely keep my busy. If you’re looking to finish up your master’s a little bit earlier, maybe try that?
If you’re more into volunteering your time, check out your local soup kitchen. If I have some spare time I am definitely going to do that!
Remember to relax.
Spa nights are productive- trust me! Self-indulgent is by no means lazy. Keeping yourself healthy is most important.
Here are some of my favorite things to do during tub time:
- Oatmeal face mask
- Shaving my legs with not only shaving cream, but olive oil
- Painting my nails
- Exfoliating
- Self-tanner
