With the North Carolina v. South Carolina game officially kicking off the college football season, I decided to share with you guys my Football Game Essentials!
A Saturday of football means a whole day of tailgating, eating football-shaped pretzels, showing off your corn hole game, screaming team cheers, taking countless photos, and just enjoying the buzz that surrounds campus before kickoff. It also means that you’ll need to be prepared with a few essentials, since you probably won’t see your dorm room or apartment for most of the day. Keep reading to find out what you’ll need in your bag for the big game!
1. Something to Keep All Your Stuff In
Since you’ll probably be busy tossing corn hole beanbags or maybe even throwing some pigskin around, you’ll definitely want a hands-free bag. I highly recommend a fun cross-body (I found mine at Target!) – they’re large enough to stash your stuff but not bulky enough that you feel like you’re hauling a suitcase around campus.
I also recommend a sturdy fanny pack if you’re really feeling adventurous – decorate it in your team colors to really show off your school spirit!
2. Something to Keep you Connected
Endless hours of tailgating, walking around campus, and trying to coordinate with friends and family means you’ll get hit with the “low battery” warning before the game even starts. A small power pack keeps your phone well juiced and ready to take countless (insert-famous-campus-landmark-here) photos with the besties.
3. Something for Your Toes
Whether you’re wearing boots or sandals, flats or flip-flops, be prepared for a few blisters with some good old-fashioned band-aids. They take up almost no space in your bag, and you’ll love yourself forever when you can slap a band-aid on your foot instead of suffering through the sting of a blister all day! (Bonus points if it’s princess/minion/Scooby Doo themed)
4. Something for Your Face
Show off your school pride with a cute face sticker or maybe even a little war paint if you’re really going all out – just make sure to put on some sunscreen in the morning so you don’t end up with an awkward sunburn!
Keep a few stickers in your bag to pass out to friends for some really cute group photos! Throw on your favorite pair of sunglasses and you are game day ready.
5. Something for Your Hair
A baseball cap, fun scrunchie, hair glitter, ribbons, bows, headbands… the list goes on! Don’t forget an extra hair tie/clip so you can pull your hair up when it gets especially hot/windy.
6. Something to Keep You Warm
You might not need an extra pair of socks or some hand warmers for the first games, but it never hurts to have them for the games later in the season. Your fingers and toes will thank you, trust me!
7. Something to Get You in the Game
Don’t forget your ticket / student ID 🙂
