Hot, sticky summer days call for a refreshing drink to cool off, and my go to drink is always Starbucks’ Passion Tea Lemonade. It’s 50% passion tea, 50% lemonade, and 100% fruity awesomeness.
However, Starbucks is pretty pricey, and money spent on drinks can really add up. So instead of braving my hot car to make the drive to Starbucks, I decided to make my own “copycat” version of my favorite drink that I could enjoy from the comfort of my air conditioned home.
Ingredients
I was so happy when I found that Target sells Tazo brand tea, the tea that Starbucks uses. In addition to their hot tea bags, Tazo makes large “iced tea” bags, which make 4 cups of your favorite iced tea per tea bag.
I brewed some tea, added a splash of lemonade, and voila! I created my very own Passion Tea Lemonade that tasted just as good (if not better) than the Starbucks original. I used Tazo Passion Tea and Country Time Strawberry Lemonade, both of which can be found at Target.
Directions
To make a large pitcher of passion tea lemonade (8 cups), first boil 4 cups of water. While the water is boiling, prepare 4 cups of lemonade in a large pitcher. You can also use pre-made lemonade, like Simply Lemonade. When the water begins to boil, remove it from the heat, add a tea bag, and let it steep for 5 minutes. Add the tea to the lemonade, refrigerate until cool, and enjoy!
Cost
A tall Passion Tea Lemonade at my Starbucks is $2.73, but making it at home brings the cost down to only 75 cents!! Say goodbye to hot cars, long lines, and spending a lot of money on a simple drink. You can even switch it up by trying different teas (black, green, mint) with different flavors of lemonade (regular, raspberry, mango). Whatever the combination, it’s sure to be an awesome drink that will keep you cool all summer long.
P.S. I freeze some of my tea lemonade in ice cube trays. They’re perfect for popping in your drink (your drink won’t become watery when they melt!) or just popping in your mouth for a tropical treat!
